Finally, short stories!

Finally, short stories!

April 11, 2026

There are 5 posts in the short story page. Three of which were uploaded today.

I started this project in 2024 and have been writing but very sporadically and inefficiently.

As of this week, I think I finally have something of a process.

Basically, something will come to me like a scene. Without giving away any spoilers, there is a scene in the Separation Anxiety story about a guy who wakes up on a factory floor. The factory is an old timey metal smelting plant (like the one at the end of Terminator 2).

The workers here have no names, no hopes, no dreams, no futures. They just manually feed the furnaces, operate scalding, dangerous, heavy machinery to sort ore, load materials on conveyor belts, manage casting equipment, etc. That's all they do and that's all they know.

They don't have names or personalities or anything like that. It's just constant work and a little bit of sleep, some food and a couple of toilet breaks. They don't need showers because they'll never need to impress anyone.

The result of all this is them becoming more like domesticated animals over time and less like humans.

Anyway, that's the scene. Once I have it, I don't really do anything with it. But then, a worldbuilding idea might come to me. I get about 4 or 5 of these every day. With enough worldbuilding ideas, I can then match my scenes to them and if they fit, I have the seed of a story.

Okay, so once I have a world and a scene, I just write some lore about the world, like how did it get there, does the story happen across multiple timeframes in that world or just the present.

After that, I think of what kind of people live there. Are they happy? Are they sad? What would I do if I was there. This finally leads to a plot - the part I usually get stuck at and have to spend the most time tweaking in order to remove plot holes, disjointedness, and of course, filler.

I mean, it doesn't always follow this strict pattern but it's generally along these lines.

Anyway, this is more of an update post. Future blog posts will be more like a behind the scenes of stories I post.
